Why are they called gauges?
It's a nod to shotgun shells — the buckets are built to look the part, brass base and all. It's a bit of fun, and it also happens to be an easy way for a crew to call out the size they need across a job site.
Practically: 8 gauge is the shortest bucket, 10 gauge is the middle, 12 gauge is the tallest. The gauge number does not follow shotgun bore logic — don't read anything into the numbers beyond "these are our three sizes".
Does every size hold a full 25 ft?
Yes. All three gauges hold 25 ft of duct. The taller bucket is not there to hold more length — it's there because larger‑diameter duct needs more depth to compress into.
Which gauge should I buy?
Match the duct diameter to the equipment you're connecting to — the blower, air mover, dehumidifier or extractor. Check the outlet or intake size on your gear and pick the gauge whose duct matches it. If you're between sizes or running mixed equipment, tell us what you've got and we'll tell you which one fits.
Can I connect two buckets together?
Yes — as long as they're the same gauge. Two 10 gauge buckets couple end to end for a 50 ft run, three for 75 ft. You cannot couple an 8 gauge to a 12 gauge; the duct diameters are different.
Each bucket keeps its own 25 ft, so breaking the run down at the end of the job just means separating the buckets and collapsing each one.
Do I have to pull out all 25 ft?
No. Pull out whatever the run needs. The remaining duct stays folded in the bucket. Partial deployment is the normal case, not the exception.
How long does pack‑up actually take?
Seconds. Walk the free end back to the bucket and press down — each fold seats on the one below and the run drops back inside. There's no rolling technique to learn, no coiling, no straps, and it doesn't take two people.
Can it be used for hot air or engine exhaust?
That depends entirely on the duct's temperature rating, which varies by gauge. Check the specification for the gauge you're considering before putting it on any heated or combustion discharge, and ask us if you're unsure. Don't assume a ventilation duct is rated for exhaust gas temperatures.

How does it stand up to a work truck?
That's the whole point of the bucket. The rigid walls take the crushing, stacking and sliding that would otherwise land on the duct, and the lid keeps grit and debris out of the inside of the run.
